Given the recent crop of outraged beauty bloggers lately (and justifiably so), I thought I’d devote today’s collection of Web links to all things beauty and fashion.
I know, I’ve mentioned her before. She pops up every now and then on my blog and is a staple on all my blogrolls. But what can I say? She’s the best, the smartest and one of the snarkiest beauty experts out there. Indeed, her second book is coming out in the fall and it’s actually entitled The Beauty Expert. Nadine Haobsh, aka Jolie in NYC, also wrote an awesome beauty advice book that came out in the late fall of 2007 and which I’ll be reviewing in these pages sometime in the next couple of weeks (in the beauty review column). Anyway, Nadine obsesses about Bare Escentuals, celebrity gossip (especially if they involve Kate Middleton, and who doesn’t?) and her eyebrows.
Other notable beauty blogs that I discovered while trolling the Internet after the Times article came out last week:
The Beauty Addict
Shake Your Beauty — Tia Williams is also a novelist and former beauty editor for Teen People. You’ll also probably recognize her as one of the faces behind Olay’s Total Effects TV ads. Yeah, this girl’s got it goin’ on.
A Girl’s Gotta Spa! — Exclamation mark the blogger’s.
Makeup Alley — one of the most popular beauty blogs on the Internet.
Beauty and Fashion Tech
Bon Bons in the Bath
Fashion-wise, it’s all about New York City and Fashion Week, where the Fall (!!) 2008 collection is on display and everyone tries to outdo each other on outfits and makeup. I don’t know about you, but I’m still looking at coats and gloves at my local thrift shop. But anyway…
Of course, the usual suspects have full coverage of the event:
For those of us who can’t quite afford even the RTW collections, Target’s always been a great option for cheap chic. Unfortunately, this appears to be Isaac Mizrahi’s last season with the discount big-box store before he moves on to his new post as creative director at Liz Claiborne. So snap up those Mizrahi pieces now before they’re gone forever! I agree with this MSN article — the Fall 2008 collection will likely have a few collector’s items.
Target’s also moving into holistic beauty products, according to BellaSugar. You can already buy Tom’s of Maine and Burt’s Bees at most of its stores, but in the next few weeks and months, it’ll be joined by Alba, Dr. Bronner’s, Kiss My Face, and Juice Organics. Prices aren’t all available yet, but you can be assured that Whole Foods will be given a run for its money.
I Am Fashion is written by two fashionistas, Hong Kong natives Barneys Girl and Harrods Girl. One is now based in Chicago, and the other travels the world when she’s not studying in London.
And lastly, a fashion blog I’ve been following of late for those of you planning a trip to the City of Light: Chic Shopping in Paris. Bring back photos!

Thanks for the link love.
By the way, I’m from Bon Bons (I just realized that my Blogger profile doesn’t reflect that info. …Just so you don’t think I’m some weirdo!)
I love Makeup Alley! Did you get your minerals yet?
Ugh, Kate Middleton. Is there no where I can go that I don’t have to read about that insufferable girl?
J’aime beaucoup cette blog.
Dear Christina, oh, I knew who you were. And you’re welcome! I love your blog.
CC, yes yes yes! I just got them yesterday! I tried using the brush I have now, but not much luck, so I’m heading to Target this weekend to get a better kabuki brush. Otherwise, I may just order one from Sephora. So far, though, I think the medium tan foundation might be just what I’m looking for, based on the limited application I did this morning!
Dear Anonymous, merci for your comment! I actually love Kate M.’s style — I can’t believe how well-dressed this woman is, how self-assured she is despite the sudden thrust into the limelight! Very different from Diana’s first few years in the media. But yeah, esp. if you live in the UK, I bet she’s a wee bit overexposed.
Salut,
Marjorie
